SBB rail traffic in the western region is managed from Renens. This covers the whole of French-speaking western Switzerland, including the cities of Geneva, Lausanne, Biel, Fribourg, Neuchâtel, Delsberg and Sion. At its heart is the operations center (BZ) with 115 workplaces. In total, over 350 people work around the clock at the BZ West.

To handle the rail production processes, SBB uses control center furniture appropriate to the tasks in various control rooms and operations centers. The desks must meet the high operational and ergonomic requirements of 24/7 shift operation. The four SBB Infrastructure operations centers West, Central, South and East are located in Renens VD, Olten, Pollegio and Zurich Airport. As part of the ongoing refurbishment, D-Com SBB desks will be used at all locations in future. This is impressive due to its concealed cable routing, increased ergonomics thanks to a floating technical compartment, a railing system that can be adjusted independently of the desk, large-scale sound absorption and perfect lighting that can be controlled via DALI.
