In the listed former Alusuisse building on Zurich’s Seefeldquai, Switzerland’s first steel-and-glass office building, a modern working environment was created for the law firm Pestalozzi.

The challenge was to integrate the requirements of a modern law firm into the listed building fabric while at the same time meeting strict fire safety requirements. Where interventions were necessary and permissible, the existing architecture was complemented rather than altered.
Across 3,250 square metres, a versatile environment was created for 120 lawyers, with prestigious public areas, communal zones, focus rooms as well as zones for exchange and relaxation. Dynamic communal areas take the place of individual offices; modular, sound-insulated booths are available for focused work and confidential conversations.
The furnishing combines design classics with contemporary pieces. Strong colour accents complement the listed colour scheme with red carpets, blue mosaic floors and matt silver metal elements; decorative collector’s pieces enter into dialogue with the architecture and give the building new vitality.
