cern control center cms, cessy

CERN is a research organization located near Geneva, partly in France and partly in Switzerland. It operates the most powerful particle accelerator in the world. In its underground ring tunnel, two high-energy particle beams are accelerated to almost the speed of light before being brought to collision at four different crossing points, which correspond to the positions of four experiments. One of these is the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment, CMS for short. The new control room is the heart of CMS operations. It was equipped with H-Com ultimate desks. All workstations in the room will have the same configuration to ease maintenance and maximize flexibility, so if a workstation fails, a shifter can simply log in to another workstation and have the same look and feel, an essential feeling for smooth operations.
