AXA XL serves large companies and sees itself as a “workshop of possibilities”, but as an insurer it must at the same time radiate seriousness and trust. The analysis showed that the existing furnishing and the building’s architecture already convey this seriousness. What was missing were accents that stimulate new ideas – a place, in other words, that encourages creativity while preserving elegance.

The basis is a colour concept that frames each floor with curtains in its own colour. These provide privacy, filter the light and create a discreet atmosphere towards the areas open to the atrium. Building on this, alternative work zones were created in orange, green and red, complemented by lounges, meeting and workshop zones as well as specially designed touchdown tables for flexible, creative working.

The touchdown tables convince through their simplicity and clear design language. A folded steel U-profile forms the structural backbone, on which simple five-layer spruce panels rest. The cabling disappears into a black duct that manages without flaps or covers; cut-outs allow monitor mounts or desk lamps to be fitted easily.

The climate control also follows an unobtrusive approach: instead of conventional ventilation ducts in the ceiling, Riotherm Strata transfer fans guide the air through the partitions and thus ensure good air quality in the meeting rooms.

The bistro areas connected via the generous atrium create an open, flowing atmosphere. With its extraordinary perspectives, the building provides a unique setting for creative and collaborative working.
